Welcome to the future Heights Grocery Store, a cozy northend neighborhood market and coffee shop—a new way forward for the former Vashon-Maury Grange Hall.

Help Us Bring the Old Grange Hall Back to Life

There is something special about the way our island comes together to build the things that sustain us. For a long time, the old Grange Hall was part of that.

Today, we are proud to share the next chapter of a project built for — and by — this community: Heights Grocery Store.

We’ve spent 8 years working through the details. Every step was about honoring the building’s history and protecting it for the future. Brag alert: It is currently the only Grange Hall in all of King County to be designated as a landmark. And it’s ready for its next glorious act.

Our vision is simple, but vital: to create a neighborhood market and coffee shop that celebrates local growers and provides a warm, welcoming space for all of us to connect. A place to stop in and pick up what you need. See someone you know and stay awhile.

We are pleased to announce that the plans are finished. The approvals are in place. We’ve received early funding, including a $65,000 award from 4Culture, and additional grants are in progress. Builders, artists, and neighbors have already stepped in.

We’re in the last stretch!

Now, we need your help. We are launching a community fundraising campaign to bridge the final gap. We need to raise $200,000 in this phase to finish construction and invite you through the door.

That money goes directly into the work that still needs to happen:

  • Replacing the roof and repairing the structure

  • Running electrical and adding insulation

  • Installing plumbing, refrigeration, and ventilation

  • Cutting in skylights to bring light back into the space

  • Restoring windows and entrances so they work and still look like they belong

  • Building out the interior so it can function as a market and a place to gather again

Our vision for the old Grange Hall is coming to life! We’ll keep building as support comes in — and then the doors open. We can’t wait to welcome you!

Onward!
